Ball, Ball and More Ball

Crazy weekend. Had a men's softball tournament all day Saturday. We didn't do to shabby considering the teams we were up against. Ended up 2-2. Four crazy games. Lots of runs scored. Very proud of the way our guys played. Lost the first game but didn't get down. Came back and one the next two. Lost a heartbreaker in the third game. How the game goes sometimes.

Not to toot my own horn, but I was on fire! Went 10-14 with 5 walks. Ton of RBI's. Good times.

Then tonight we had our normal Sunday night game. Again got the win. Yay us! And I kept the fire going once again. Went 2-2 with a walk! My On Base Percentage is rocking the last two days.

I just hope I can keep it up. My body is aching. I can do this. Love this game!

Should I or Shouldn't I

I recently turned in a sample of my writing to a pop culture/geek website as they are looking for writers. Really wasn't expecting feedback or acknowledgement. However, the editor must have liked what he saw. I was offered a spot to write for them. Yay me! The downside you say? Well, the downside is there's no money in it. It's basically writing 3-5 articles/stories a week. I guess I would compare it to writing articles like I was for my website, WayStation/Bird Word. For fun and for the experience. The question becomes do I want to take this on and build from the experience or do I forego the whole thing based on lack of profit? I will have to ponder this as I still have no idea what I want to do.

Misc. Thoughts and Concerns

Hello all!

Been awhile. Well, looking at my last post I guess I need to update you on happenings. First off, I didn't get the Playstation gig. Oh well. However, I am currently working at a local comic shop...as well as that other retail place that shall not be named. The comic shop is small but it does decent business. They do most of it online. Been fun so far. I've been working there since June. There have been some recent events that have me kind of worried about my job security, but I guess I'll have to take it as it comes. I still have hopes of going back to school for a different degree and also for a coaches authorization at some point. Hopefully soon.

Also, I have a child in high school! How weird is that. Anthony is now a freshman. He is currently active in Band and will be doing Bowling in November. I'm hoping he still wants to play baseball in spring but I think he has some reservations. That might have been my fault. At least to a degree. I push him a lot. Mostly because I love the game so much and I know he can do it, if he puts his mind to it. Whatever his decision will be I will be okay with it. As long as he's happy with it.

I started drawing again. At least a little. Working on some commissions for a relative. Not sure if it will be a recurring thing right now or not. Trying to work on it them in between both jobs so it's taking more time than I'd like.

Still wishing I could open my own comic shop. Anyone know where I can find a bunch of money to open my own place? :)

Been getting back into softball as of late. Playing on two teams again. Thursdays and Sundays. Need to get back in shape a little more however. Haven't been to the gym in forever. Haven't had time. Or so I say. Soon.

I'll try to write more soon. Honestly I forget I have this blog half of the time.

News! Of A Sort

So, you know how I've been trying to find a job? I received a phone call last week from Sony Playstation. I had applied for a Playstation Rep. job a couple of weeks prior. I had a phone interview last week that was brief and vague about the job itself. However, it went well and I was to have a second interview set up for this week. Tonight, I get a text from Connie saying that Sony had called and left a message with a phone number to call them back. Naturally I did so. I talked with the District Manager of this area. She was super enthusiastic and genuinely excited to talk to me. It was awesome. We discussed the details of the job and if I still wanted to pursue it. YES! Provided the pay works out for my family, this job is amazing. Day hours, Monday-Friday. Working with video games! The call went well and I'm to meet with her next Tuesday or Thursday and have a face to face. I'm really excited but I'm trying not to get my hopes up..too much. Wish me luck!

Time. Where for art thou time?

Holy crap! It's been almost a year since I've posted anything on here. Crazy.

Well, let's get into this, shall we?

A lot has changed since the last post. I do have a job. We'll leave it at that and revisit that another day.
Another year and no school. I really do need to get back. I finally figured out what I want to do with my life. Well two things really. I touched on the Sports Management thing last time so I won't go into all that again. However, it does tie in to one of the things I want to do. I want to coach. Baseball. I want to make a difference in young people's lives as far as the game is concerned. I've played my whole life. I've had great teachers. I know I can can be a good influence on young players. The other thing started out as a hobby and just a good time with friends. I am in the process of getting an entertainment website up and running. When I say entertainment I don't mean porn. Sickos. Get your mind out of the gutter. I mean movies, music, video games, comics, tv and maybe the occasional sports reference. I'm talking reviews, news, video, audio, polls, top tens and yes friends, a podcast. Some friends and I started a blog awhile back doing these very things. It was for fun and for me, making little jabs at some big entertainment sites for what they were posting. For what they were calling news. Ha ha. Funny still. Anyway, I got together with them and discussed the idea of a website. They were all on board. So the ideas started. It's still a work in progress at this point in time, but as soon as it happens, I'll be linking/hyping it here. I'm actually really excited about it. I know I'm not the greatest writer in the world but who really cares, right? As long as it's entertaining. This is really right up my alley. I have many loves in my life. My wife. My kids. But, I also have baseball and entertainment. Movies and comic books at the forefront. I've seen too many movies to count and there's still a huge list that I want to see. I'm no critic, but I love to talk about movies. It's the same with comics. I grew up with comics. I think it was a combination of being influenced by my brother and my uncle Mike. Both were comic fans. I'm just rambling now. The point is these are both things I want to see happen within the next few months. School might be the harder of the two to get started, but I'm not giving up. I'll try and keep you posted.

What else?

My kids are growing up faster than I could have possibly imagined. My son is in 8th grade! 8th! Where did that time go? He's slowly becoming a young man. I'm proud of him. Doing great in school. Enjoys band. Even got him playing baseball...bonus! My daughter is growing like a weed. She turns three in a couple months. Scary stuff. She is already half my height. Half! 3 years old! Weird, right? I love her. She's very much daddy's little girl.

My wife is great. Put up with me for 11 years now. I don't know what else to say. I love her. She means the world to me. Just wish I could see her a little more. Job thing. Again, touch on that another time.

Hopefully, in the days to come, I'll have some good news to share. Only time will tell.

"Alright, now I'm a little worried."

So, it is now December 27th and I still haven't found a job. My current employment ends on January 31st. Starting to get a little stressed out. I've applied all over and will continue to do so. I really wish/pray something will come up that I can enjoy. I'm worried that I'm going to land a job that I'm not going to like and that it will change me some how. I really would rather get out of retail all together. I want to get into photography so bad. Unfortunately, it's out of my affordability right now. Coaching is the other option. Rather, Sports Management. A local college has a 4-year program that sounds like it would be right up my alley. Again, not sure I can afford it. Both time and money right now. I know God will lead me in the right direction. It's all about patience and calmness. I can do it. Keep me in prayer. As I can surely use it. Thank you to all who have tried to help thus far. It means a lot.

Change is coming

Been awhile...again...I know. So, some things have come up that are going to stir the pot around my life. About a month ago I found out that my place of work is closing it's doors on the 31st of December. Needless to say this news sucks. After having a steady job for almost 10 years the thought of job hunting and doing interviews again just makes me cringe. However, I'm also kind of looking forward to it. I think it's time for something new. I will miss my friends and co-workers but I'm sure I will get into something just as fun and find more firends. The funny part was that the next night, after hearing this news, I injured my leg at softball. Tore my calf muscle to be exact. Turned out to be a fun week. So, as of now, I am job hunting as well as recovering.

To kind of go along with my injury news, I have decided to give up playing softball. It's kind of hard for me to do so, but I think I've found an outlet. I've been playing baseball or softball since I was very little and every year since. It's difficult to let go after living and breathing the sport I grew up with but life goes on. I'm taking on coaching youth baseball next year to fill the void. I want to help my son learn to play better and help other kids have some fun and further their skills. I've asked one of my best friends, who has played ball with me since we were kids, to help me. I've also asked my dad, who was a huge reason why I played ball, to help as well. Between the three of us I know we can do some good and have an impact of some future players.

As far as school goes, I haven't written it off. Just trying to sort out everything else right now. I'm thinking of going back for photography or sports management. I haven't decided which. But, like I said, everything else first.

Laini is getting so big. She started daycare this month. She is doing great. We go to pick her up and ask her what she did for the day and her answer is, " I played with boys." I love it. Anthony started basketball practice this morning. He is really looking forward to it, so I hope he does well. Both kids have birthdays coming up. It's crazy how much they've grown. Laini will be 2 in November and Anthony will be 13 in December.

Well that's all for now. Hopefully it won't be so long between posts from here on out. No promises.
